The Story Behind the Painting
I approach fantasy paintings as moments from stories rather than isolated character portraits.
For this piece, I imagined a vampire knight carrying a weapon capable of corrupting the land itself. As he moves through an ancient Gothic courtyard beneath the blood moon, his sword tears through the earth, spreading decay in its wake.
The viewer arrives in the middle of that moment. What happened before and what comes afterward are deliberately left unanswered.
That is part of what I love about fantasy art: a single image can suggest an entire world beyond the edges of the painting.
