Gourds – Original Autumn Still Life Oil Painting 14.75"x10.75"
Celebrate the warmth and character of autumn with an original, hand-painted still life.
Gourds is a one-of-a-kind oil painting featuring a collection of seasonal gourds and pumpkins. Their varied shapes and natural colors create a charming arrangement that celebrates the simple beauty of everyday objects.
Painted using the traditional alla prima technique, this artwork captures the freshness and immediacy of direct painting. Expressive brushwork, carefully observed light, and natural color relationships give the composition warmth and character.
Whether displayed in a kitchen, dining room, farmhouse, or seasonal gallery wall, this original painting brings a touch of autumn into your home.
The Inspiration
I've always enjoyed painting still lifes because they offer an opportunity to find beauty in ordinary objects.
Gourds are especially interesting subjects. Their unusual shapes, subtle color variations, and textured surfaces provide endless possibilities for exploring light, form, and composition.
For this painting, I wanted to celebrate those natural variations while maintaining the freshness of an alla prima oil study.
The result is a traditional still life that combines observational painting with expressive brushwork.
